Hi, I’m Catherine R. Jones, founder of Zuzi and your transaction coach.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of advising on deals totaling over $72 billion.

My journey has taken me from finance attorney at a Wall Street firm to General Counsel for multinational companies, providing me with real-world experience at the negotiating table.

This experience has shaped my coaching and allows me to offer strategic insight, guidance, and transaction coaching for CEOs and Founders facing complex deals.​

My Journey: From Law to Coaching

I began my career as a finance attorney at a Wall Street firm in NYC. Afterward, I joined a large law firm in Miami, handling debt restructurings, IPOs, and SPACs. My path then led me in-house to Atlantis and One&Only Hotels, where I played a key role in negotiating a $5 billion debt restructuring. As General Counsel for Virgin Mobile Latin America and Upside Business Travel, I led the company through critical debt and equity financing rounds.

My Coaching Philosophy: Focusing on the Human Side of Deals

At Zuzi, I support CEOs and Founders through ever stage of a transaction.  We start by defining what success looks like before you ever engage in your negotiations.  During your negotiations I’m available for coaching on an ad hoc basis and then more detailed coaching during the deal closing process. My approach is rooted in a simple truth: deals are driven by people, not just terms. As a former lawyer and executive, I saw how emotions, egos, and misalignment often disrupted even well-structured deals. That insight led me to create a new kind of support: Transaction Coaching.

Combining coaching and strategic advising, I help you navigate pressure, avoid costly mistakes, and make clear, values-aligned decisions—every step of the way.

Why I Do What I Do: Empowering Leaders in High-Stakes Transactions

After surviving the highs and lows of business transactions, I consider myself a recovering deal junkie. From navigating economic downturns to closing significant financing rounds, I’ve faced the challenges of managing pressure-filled decision-making. The emotional toll of these moments—feeling exhausted, frustrated, and lost—taught me that making critical choices is far from easy.

The isolation that comes with being at the top is something I understand well. As an executive, I often felt I had no one to turn to, no one to help me gain perspective. Overwhelmed by choices, I struggled with making the right decisions. Many of my peers have faced these same challenges, and it’s these experiences that inspired me to create Zuzi®—to help leaders navigate these obstacles with clarity and confidence.
